Kelma Kelma
Tuesday 15 July
A collaboration between a virtual community on Facebook - Kelma Kelma -and the Big Band Brothers, an 18-piece big band. The project, which will take the form of a performance, will present a series of traditional Maltese prose, poetry and songs to expose and highlight aspects of traditional Maltese culture in a contemporary approach.

King Lear
Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 July
Tempestuous poetry shot through with touches of humour and moments of heart-rending simplicity, King Lear is one of the deepest artistic explorations of the human condition. Joseph Marcell will play King Lear. He is best known for his role as Geoffrey in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and has previously performed at the Globe in Much Ado About Nothing (2011) and Coriolanus (2006).

The Dutch Ensemble Windstreken makes musical connections between very diverse musical styles. Windstreken ensemble is collaborating with Maltese composer Ruben Zahra for a vibrant music programme that will present some of Zahra’s compositions portraying a unique folk-fusion profile.

Ir-Ritorn
Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 July
Well-known local theatre group 'Theatre anon' (Ospizio, Agamemnon, Metamorphosis, Candide) are presenting Ir-Ritorn, their production based on Homer’s Odyssey. In this revamped version, this company of actors employ their characteristic visual style and various storytelling techniques.

Up-close
Saturday 26 July
Up-close is a cello concerto duplicated and magnified until it reaches the boundary of video opera. Featuring soloist Konstanze van Gutzeit under the direction of Pavel Snajdr with the string orchestra of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme will also include ‘Triple Quartet’ by Steve Reich and ‘Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten’ by Arvo Pärt.

Triple Bill: Duets in Motion
Thursday 31 July – Friday 1 August
A triple bill of duets. The programme is intended to create a link between emerging Maltese practitioners and established international artists or companies. There is also an exciting emphasis on male dance artists, from dancers and choreographers.

MPO Closing Concert
Saturday 2 August
The closing concert of the Malta Arts Festival will feature the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Mro Brian Schembri. The programme includes Elgar’s cello concerto featuring cellist Alexander Kniazev and Petrouchka by Igor Stravinsky. The concert will also premier a new work by Maltese composer Karl Fiorini.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are available from www.ticketline.com.mt and from the Embassy Cinema box office in Valletta from10am to 9pm and at the door before the performance.

Closing Concert tickets are available from www.mcc.com.mt or from the Mediterranean Conference Centre booking office as from 12 July.

Tickets for il-Kapillan ta’ Malta are available from www.teatrumanoel.com.mt or from the Manoel Theatre booking office. On the night of the performance tickets can be purchased from the Mediterranean Conference Centre booking office.
